On January 14, 2009, Dr. Gawande gave the inaugural annual James Reason Lecture at the Royal Society of Medicine in London.  The title of the lecture was, "The checklist effect: on the fight against failure in medicine," and in it Dr. Gawande outlines the reasoning behind the WHO's Safe Surgery Saves Lives Campaign.  The video is available here.
